Week 26 - Maternity Fashion

For anyone who didn't watch the news last week - I volunteered to help a friend at a TV station doing a segment on maternity fashion for the holidays.  While it was fun to have 15 seconds of fame, the best part was seeing Santa who was on right after!

Baby is doing well - kicking and bopping around.  It's the length of a green onion (14 inches) and weighs as much as a rutabaga (1.5 lbs).  Happy Holidays everyone!

Week 25 - Hola Mexico!

This week we went to Punta Mita, Mexico for a little 'babymoon' getaway.  A great opportunity to relax, unwind and enjoy some last bit of sleep before life with a baby in a few short months :)  We enjoyed golf, the beach, pool and lots of great food and hospitality.  Baby is doing well and enjoyed the trip also. He or she is about 13 inches long and 1 1/2 lbs.  Sometimes it even gets the hiccups - talk about a weird feeling!

Week 24 - Baby Friends

With all of the excitement this week I forgot to take an actual belly pic (the whole purpose of this blog!) but instead we'll share with you our new little buddy, Gavin.  The son of some good friends - we got to meet Gavin for this first time this weekend, and also get a little parenting practice in.  What a cutie - can't wait to have play dates with him when our little one arrives!

Week 23 - Thanksgiving!

With so much to be Thankful for this year, this post is very appropriate.  We got to spend the day/week with family, friends, and lots of good food (all of which baby enjoyed...I think he/she was in a food coma for about 3 days).  I've learned that baby takes up more space than you'd think, as eating anything, much less a huge Thanksgiving dinner, is hard to fit in there (but well worth the effort!)  It was the first Thanksgiving in the new house, and we grilled the turkey this year on the new Weber grill.  Thanks to our families for helping out, cooking, and of course for the fun memories.

Week 22

I am a few weeks behind again with posting - it has been a fun but busy time with travel and Thanksgiving! I was lucky enough to get to spend a weekend with one of my best friends from growing up.  We had a great time in Scottsdale, AZ (and enjoyed the escape from the blustery Chicago weather!).  Not to mention, we got to watch our original hometown team, the Eagles (yes, yes I know the Bears are now my home :) ), at a local Arizona Eagles bar complete with Philly cheers, chants and music.  And a win to top it off!

Thanksgiving post will be up soon - still recovering from Turkey overload!

21 Weeks

More than half way there! Belly continues to grow and baby is getting a little more active - I can feel a little bit more movement each day.  We got to travel to Virginia this weekend to see (most of) the Villanova aunts/uncles/cousins.  Such a fun time!

19 -20 weeks

Catch up time! I forgot last week's post, so here's a 2-in-1. The past two weeks have been great for Baby Kimble.  We got to continue enjoying the fall weather with trips to the apple orchard, pictures with pumpkins and even a road trip to Detroit.  All fun times!

This was capped off by the 20 week ultrasound on Halloween, where we got to see the little guy/girl moving around and talking to us (ok, not really talking, but we did see its lips move :) ).  Everything is healthy, where it's supposed to be and growing on track.  Baby's little heart beats at 140 beats per minute.  Such a little peanut!

And the biggest news - this morning was the first 'real' kick (and a few punches) from the baby!  What has felt like little flutters recently now is more distinct movement as the baby grows . We're half way there! (the last image below is a video)

Week 17 (and a half!)

I love this time of year! The crispness in the air... the warmth of getting the fire place going...the thoughts of holidays right around the corner! Not to mention the yummy apple pie candle burning throughout the house.  This was a great fall weekend - we were able to get our family of pumpkins to decorate the house as well as start shopping for some baby gear. Jarod was particularly fond of Borris - the test baby for car seats and strollers at the store :) On a side note - I finally got to break in the maternity jeans.  Who knew they were so comfortable!

Hope everyone is enjoying fall!

Week 16

Happy Tuesday!  The little munchkin (or monkey as we call him/her) is going strong - growing fast and getting bigger.  Baby is about the size of an avocado this week and his eyes/ears have migrated to the right places (according to the website....whew!) There is now a noticeable bump!

This weekend I was fortunate enough to spend some time with my Indiana family, including my cousin Jenny's baby shower. It was great to see everyone and celebrate her little bundle of joy arriving in November. Congrats Jenny and Jason!

Week 15

Hello from sunny Chicago! It hardly feels like fall here - the past week has been clear, warm and picture-perfect.  Baby is doing fine - 15 week check up was this weekend and his/her little heartbeat is going strong at 150 beats per minute.  It'll be about the size of an apple this week! Other than that - not too much to report.  Happy fall :)

Welcome To Our Blog!

Thanks for visiting our blog!  Whether you're just stopping by or joining us for the long-haul, we are delighted to share the experiences we encounter along this amazing journey.

To catch everyone up - Baby K is expected to make an appearance on March 24, 2015.  That makes this right around the 14 week mark.  I've been fortunate to have had a fairly easy ride so far, but am excited to get some energy back heading into the second trimester.

According to all the pregnancy websites, the baby should be about the size of a lemon - 3 1/2 inches long and about 1.5 ounces (roughly) - and have developed most body parts.  It also responds to things (poking my belly!), makes facial expressions, and has a very thin layer of hair.

Though I can't feel anything yet, we've been lucky enough to have two ultrasounds so far.  Both times, the baby has been stubborn (shocking!) but we managed to sneak a few videos.  We'll try to post one here soon.  In the meantime - baby has been busy traveling the country.  We've been to New York, Seattle, and Florida in the past few months and are planning to squeeze in a few other trips before travel is restricted towards the third trimester.

Thanks for being here with us and we invite you to check back periodically - we'll try to keep everyone up to date :)

Lots of Love,

~ Katie and Jarod
